Wellington

We have to take the ferry from Wellington to the South Island and so have a couple of days here to see the capital of New Zealand.

On our first day we took the cable car to the Clarke Observatory. The tram car was full on the way up as people use it as a normal part of the public transport system. It was obviously old technology but effective as well as charming.

At the observatory, we thought we were going to be able to see the shuttle take off from America but with five minutes to go the take off was put on hold because of bad weather. Marion was able to check her watch against the sundial which was surprisingly accurate.

We walked through the botanic gardens. They are delightful with sculptures as well as wonderful plants. In the Begonia house there was a spectacular assortment of beautiful plants.

  • Well just managed to catch up with your travels, you could have been a history/geography teacher with this kind of web, they are truly fantastic pics and quite warming on a cold and wet december day here. Glad you're having a great time and you both look so well,

    Love as always Nikki xxxxx
