Auckland

Listening to the weather forecasts, we thought it would be cold in New Zealand as summer seemed a little late. We were delighted when we arrived to see blue skies and feel the warm sunshine. In fact the weather was a pleasant relief after the full on heat of Fiji.

Our hosts, Keith and Lisa have a sailing boat, Brass Tacks, and enjoy taking enthusiastic guests for a sail. We had a great day on the sheltered waters of one of Auckland’s two harbours, enjoying acres of space, beautiful views of the city and great sailing conditions.

The city is spectacular, with a great feeling of space without too many high rise towers, but their sky tower is special, having fabulous views over the whole city, the surrounding volcanoes and views of occasional thrill seekers, "jumping off the tower".
